Now that you mention it...

I too went through something similar.  By Christmas 2011 I purchased my very first AP - a 15300ST, Royal Oak with black dial (which I still have to this day) and then in February 2012 (just a few months later) added the 15300OR in Rose Gold, with the white/silver dial.

Over time though, I found I was gravitating and wearing my 15300ST more than the RG one, and finally decided to let the RG go.

Since then, I've added two Patek's to my small collection and hope to add a third sometime in the future.

Still absolutely loving my Royal Oak in steel.

...So this is good-bye

A fellow purist mentioned it sometime ago: the feeling is not that great when selling your watches, the good ones at least. But I guess there are some conditions under which the pain becomes more bearable. I bought this watch together with its SS brother ...

No reason to be sad, choices are mandatory, and sacrifices, sometimes.

Here, the sacrifice is all relative since you keep the stainless steel one and that you are not a colored gold guy. And that will allow you to fund a more much desirable Watch! So, no need to be sad. Le Roi est mort, Vive le Roi! ;) Best, Nicolas

Very true Nico!

Like all elements in the universe, nothing gets lost, it only transforms into something else ;)

I'm sure we have all been there...

I too have sold watches I absolutely loved but ended up not wearing. This passion is an interesting one; we learn so much as we go, and the best way to learn is through experience. Your photos are great and I am glad you shared them. Also, as Nicolas says...

Thanks for sharing...

A kind of semi sweet beautiful story... thanks for sharing. I must say the RG + blue dial is drop dead gorgeous. Perhaps it would have been a little more versatile on a strap, but then, the AP demands full metal! Looking forward to seeing what takes its p...

Surely I would not have let it go

If it was one very particular FPJ of yours... ;)

How do you manage ….

…… in the midst of bidding farewell with this watch, and yet be able to take such great pictures. Does photography comes with watch collecting ??

No regrets!

I too had sold a watch or too that I loved. But if you are not wearing it saw I wasn't, then it is silly to keep. A watch is meant to be on the wrist, not loved from afar. I am sure its replacemen(s) will make you much happier!

Well

I thought why not keep some nice souvenir-pictures of it before letting it go?! ;)

My father always told me to not be attached to "toys".

Because we do not need them and they are only things. Look forward to your future watch endevors. Best, JerryW

That's very good Advice...

So easy to wear, and yet so classy, so purely perfect... No other watch is like this. And, most importantly for a daily wearer supposed to live with you: --> the more tiny scratches it has, the less shiny the polished surfaces get, ...the SEXIEST it be...

Indeed

The fountain is amazing, one of the most interesting modern ones I've seen, personally I have more respect for historical ones such as Trevi, Cibeles, etc, but it is true that the Burj one is a fine piece of art and engineering, I love the water drops cho...
