A tease for the full review I will have for your reading pleasure next month. Bill...

I can't wait that long! ;-)

But the photo is a nice treat until the review. I am looking forward to your thoughts on this new Historiques. I have to say it looks great on your wrist. Best, respo

Wish I could write it faster....

alas, I have to beg your patience. Perhaps I'll get a couple more photos to whet the appetite. :-) Bill

Looks great!

The shape of the case is very intriguing, interested to hear your thoughts in your review.

This is a review model....

 By: WHL : March 26th, 2014-13:56
so I'm going to have to give it back soon. If you want to see it in person please see me soon. Bill

And still today my memory of this one is that it was one of the most comfortable watches I ever tried on....! :) Sorry for the bad quality, pic taken at the Manufacture in 2005. Best Blomman ...

I'll be sharing photos of the 1952 in my review. :-)

 By: WHL : March 26th, 2014-13:57
And that is a model that is popular with more than a few of the collectors on this forum. Bill

A very clean and simple look piece

Very attractive. I too think it looks great on you. It looks to wear smaller than my 1952. Thinner, that is. I really would like to have both side by side to compare on the wrist. Blomman indicated that he felt the 1952 was a very comfortable watch. For m...

Measurements

 By: WHL : March 26th, 2014-14:01
Joe, The 1952 measures 35.7 side to side. The 1951 is 33.3 mm according to the catalog, and it does seem about 2-3 mm less thick than I remember the 1952 being. Being square, it wears not unlike a 40 mm round watch. Bill

"Between classicism and quirkiness"

Well said, though I think it only really applies to this, the 1921, and the 1954. The ultra thin 1955 and 1968, as well as the 1907 are more sober. Bill

Bill, your recent topics have really struck a chord with me

I've been thinking about my next acquisition since SIHH, and have narrowed it down to 3 "modern" VCs. - Pt with grey dial Patrimony Traditionelle - 1972 with grey dial and RG hands - 1951 Toledo I believe I've made my decision, but will wait until I actua...

I am very excited for you, Dan

 By: respo : March 25th, 2014-18:23
Those are three great choices. I know which one I would vote for, but I can't wait to see which one you choose. Best, respo

Thanks Robert

I haven't ordered the watch yet, but I think its just a matter of time. :-)

Hi Dan, have you tried all three on?

 By: 4Js : March 25th, 2014-19:57
This is exciting! I truly can't figure out which way you are leaning? How long before the news? Best, Joe

Hi Joe. Yes, I've tried all 3 on before.

But not at the same time. This is something I plan on doing soon, on my next visit to a Boutique. I will say that I alway consider how any new watch will fit in with the existing collection. But it doesn't mean it is the only watch that I want/hope to get...

This will be a vicarious thrill....

Seeing what you will get. Please share here too. Bill

Is it early April Bill?

Can't wait for the review! The Toledo was my favorite novelty when I first saw it in Watches and Wonders. Love the curves of the case. It does sit quite high and heavy though so may not fit my small wrist well. Your wrist shot looks great! I will try to c...

While April is near by the calendar....

 By: WHL : March 26th, 2014-18:53
The weather feels more like early February here in Boston. I can't wait for spring to finally get here. A broken in or unpadded strap would probably help it fit your wrist better. These will be showing up soon in showcases. Bill

Interesting strategy

 By: Tick Talk : March 26th, 2014-07:41
to bring back the Toledo design once again. LOL, we'll be referring to the Toledo 1952 Historiques as an older model to this Toledo 1951 Historiques! First called CarrĂ© GalbĂ© or curved square, yet nicknamed Cioccolatone by Italian collectors for its resem...

A vintage Cioccolatone would a place of pride.....

In my don't come around much, and the triple date models are fearsomely expensive now. Bill

This AP version of the "Toledo" carre galbe-style case was made by Eggly & Cie (responsibility mark "key #1" seen on the inside of case back) who worked for V&C as well, so perhaps the same dies were used for both brands. During the 1950s and 60s ...

Lovely watch, Bill

It looks quite beautiful on your wrist. Joseph

It's nice to play with a form case for a while....
