The Denis Mortet Gevrey-Chambertin and Robert Mondavi Opus' were standouts, the 1990 Cristal the most surprising.

And of course, all accompanied by and marked by this, my constant companion through all of life's greatest moments:

So I was a bit shocked and surprised upon first opening, and thought it was corked. But once my palate settled down from pre-conceptions and the champers calmed down and opened up a bit, it became glorious, developing a warm complexity seldom experienced ...

i won't ask for clarification on whether "krug-like" is good or bad. =) thanks for the feedback on the '90 cristal. i've recently been exposed to aged champagne. tried an aged cristal (89) for the first time a few weeks back and it was a complete eye-open...
