I have tried on all 4 at one time or another.

There is absolutely no denying that Audemars Piguet's use of "forged carbon" is extremely unique and yields a very special appearance.  I happen to love the juxtaposition of the perfectly finished ceramic bezel atop the modeled look of the carbon case.

The all ceramic models are certainly more refined looking and less industrial than their carbon counterparts.  You did not include a photo of the anthracite dial all ceramic Offshore chronograph, so I have added one below, in case you would consider this dial.  I really fell for this version when I saw it at the AP Boutique in Bal Harbour, Florida.  It is super sleek.

As for the variations in pricing on these models, it is hard to say, and at SIHH 2013, we were not given any specific reasons as to the differences.

Please keep us posted on your selection!

FC or Ceramic?

 By: Ed Watches : July 16th, 2014-11:56
I am starting to plan for my next piece, either a Diver or a 44mm ROO. Having read many of your posts, I tend to believe that ceramic wins over FC for the majority. Am I right? I have another ceramic watch and love the solid feel/heft. But I also love the...

Having just seen and handled a ROO GP FC in person a few days ago by pure coincidence (met an owner at the airport), it is very nice, keeps the eyes interested in the case more than the ceramic. Quite nice in my opinion.... Let us know when and what you d...

I've owned both

AP's forged carbon and ceramic are truly on another level in my view vs most other brands. Their ceramic is finished at a standard that is just amazing while the forged carbon has some terrific properties. Net net, I think that it depends on the overall a...

I have both..

While I enjoy both of them, I love the ceramic over the forged carbon one. I know that Forged Carbon is one of a kind and unique to AP, the ceramic is another level once you try both. Please find the pictures and judge by yourself. Cheers, PS: or consider...

Welcome to PuristSPro chanpya! Thanks for these superb photos.

You have really captured AP's amazing finish of the ceramic components.

Thanks Michael

Thank you Michael, I don't have the anthracite, but honestly i prefer the black one(s) :D I have been browsing the PuristS forum for years but this post has triggered me to write something since I have a couple of 44mm. I really have to agree with you tha...

Excellent, we are glad to have you on board!

Your story is common; many of us browsed a while before joining. I hope you will enjoy posting more now. Your photos are excellent, and I always enjoy comments and thoughts from other AP owners.

I have tried on all 4 at one time or another.

Question

 By: Ed Watches : July 17th, 2014-07:20
Did you notice the anthracite dial has disappeared from the ROO collection range on the AP website? I wonder if it has been discontinued just a few months after its launch. Also, what justifies the FC Diver being more expensive than the ceramic model, whi...

I am hoping it is just a website issue

 By: MichaelC : July 17th, 2014-14:08
I will try an obtain an official answer from AP, as I have noticed the same thing myself. As for the pricing, as I already replied, I really don't have an answer. I asked the very question at SIHH in 2013 when the models in question were launched there wa...

I beg to differ, but...

I beg to differ, but then as the saying goes, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Personally I feel my Boutique Edition in steel, exudes style and class, whilst the Ceramic or FOO always have a 'tuned' sort of image (pimp my watch, so to speak) But hey ...

Nice shot!!

You definitely capture the beauty of the watch... Specially in the last shot! Thanks!

For me the 44mm FC!!

 By: emijar3 : July 20th, 2014-11:17
You have a tough decision there... Had the same dilema last year... I decided to go for the FC cause I love the combination between the case and the bezel and how the FC feels... You can't go wrong with any of those watches... My advice is take the one th...

Forged Carbon Always!!!

 By: AyrtonSenna777 : July 30th, 2014-07:21
FC for me. There's an organic warmth to a forged carbon watch which is strangely absent from a full ceramic. Which might sound strange, given the rather cold nature of the carbon fibre strands that went into the manufacture of the forged carbon case. Howe...
