Audemars Piguet SIHH 2014 Novelties Live Pics!

Mar 15, 2014,13:01 PM

Thanks to Audemar Piguet Ginza Boutique, I had a wonderful opportunity to handle and take pics of some of the novelties.  Take a look at those wonderful new pieces:

1. Royal Oak Offshore Chronograph 42mm

This is the old version profile.  Check out the shape of the crown guard.  And the pusher material was rubber.

The new edition has slight curve protecting the crown from above, and the pusher and the crown are made of ceramic (was rubber).

Old version dial (see the difference in the subdials and a bit thicker numeral index.

Now with display back.

The older version back.

Let me show you variety of the new ROOs.

I think this is cool.

Is it me or are the new ROOs more pleasant to wear?  Maybe I am getting used to the bigger watches, but I noticed the lug edge fits better on the wrist curve....  Just try it.

Not bad at all...

Wow, heavy hitter...

And, hello heavier hitter!

2. Royal Oak Offshore Quartz.

37mm

Pink Gold case

Beautiful (for ladies....)

Stainless Steel version

3. Royal Oak Offshore Chronograph 44mm

Black ceramic case with new greyish dial, with silver accents.

Ceramic case + Titanium push piece guards (older all black version)

Case back and links are Titanium, too.

Notice the same shape of the crown guard as the 42mm ones.

Forged Carbon case version.

Ceramic case, but slightly different hue (more greyish than black) dial - latest version

Again, let us compare.  First, Forged Carbon case... all black dial....

Next, the newer greyish dial in the black ceramic case version.

Black ceramic case, but black, the same dial as the forged carbon case, version - to be discontinued.

Far left Forged Carbon + all black dial and the center greyish dial in the black ceramic case will remain while the far right black dial, black ceramic case is to be discontinued because AP wants to differentiate more the two different material cases versions.

Very, very light.

4. Royal Oak Concept GMT Tourbillon

Thick titanium + ceramic case.

Very easy to eyes, symmetrical design.  Pleasant.

Crown position indicator is the trademark of Renaut et Papi movement.

My fav is black version.

More spartan look.

Looks better on my wrist smile

(BONUS)
5. Royal Oak Offshore Chronograph, Lebron James LE

Pink Gold + Titanium Pusher Piece Guard.

A little bit different shape of the crown guard (from the old or new version).

Diamonds on the pusher.... wow....

Autograph on the display back sapphire glass.

Just wow.  So nice to meet in person.  If you can, visit the boutique and handle them in person.  Very nice new line-up from AP this year.  Impressive.

Special thanks to Audemars Piguet Japan:

Thanks Ken for sharing these pics of the AP SIHH '14 novelties. I like the redesigned crown guards and the transparent case back of the Offshore models. Can't wait to see these hopefully soon here in SoCal. Regards, ED-209

It will be the nearest Audemars Piguet boutique soon....

.. interesting about novelties this year debited in each market is that these "stay" (for sales) and the AP boutique near you will get ones from Swiss soon. Ken

Excellent report Ken! Some of the finest photos I have seen of the new collections.

We all really appreciate your effort here, I am quite certain of that. Your photo set is the first I have seen that correctly captures the new 44mm ceramic cased Offshore with the anthracite dial. I really appreciate the explanation on the various models ...

The 44mm Royal Oak Offshore is quite an eye opener for me...

... carbon or ceramic - that is the problem! Black ceramic with black dial may be a rare piece to collect if you see one Kidding. It is Audemars Piguet Japan's courtesy to let me see all three and compare - very nice of them to let me compare side by side...

Was waiting for this...

.. well thought of from the owners' view point. Ceramic pushers, and slight, but significant change in the pusher piece guards for the use and practical purposes, while the view from the top makes is look more, for the lack of better words, well-balanced....

Thank you for this GREAT post :)

.. for 42mm, I like the black one with red stitch. For 44mm, I would love the forged carbon, but make sure it fits comfortably on my wrist.... As for the concept model, I would definitely go for the black one...... And if I had GF, would happily go fro th...

Awesome report ..... Thanks a lot Ken ..
