H. Jules Audemars small seconds
Mar 15, 2013,10:24 AM
Like the 39mm Jules Audemars selfwinding, the 33mm handwind version receives the gorgeous new dial treatment featuring the guilloche center. In total, there are 4 versions of this watch: 2 come on a brown leather crocodile strap and two come with case metal matching bracelets. For each of the two strap types, you are offered the diamond bezel with diamond hour markers, or plain bezel with plain stick hour markers. All case metals are the same, 18-carat pink gold.
Aside from the smaller case diameter, there are several other key differences between this model and the previously reviewed 39mm model. On the dial, we see the seconds function now has its own subdial. Also, the date feature has been removed. It leaves for an extremely well balanced dial and elegant case size.
The next big difference we see is the movement of the 33mm Jules Audemars, which is the hand-wound Caliber 3090. I find its architecture quite appealing.
And the same watch on the matching 18-carat pink gold bracelet. I must say, the 7 rows of links really make for an incredibly supple feel.
Once again we see AP's superb mastery of diamond work on the bezel and hour markers:
It really is a difficult decision between these new 33mm hand-wound models and the 39mm selfwinding model. Each version offers distinct differences. That is great news for the ladies, who now have the options to pick the size, strap, and movement type they prefer. Huge props to AP for their continued development of the Women's Collection.
