Scenes from the Salon at the AP Booth.

Jan 31, 2010,13:44 PM

There was definitely a buzz around the AP booth at SIHH. For one thing, they were occupying a sizeable booth; for another, and along with Richard Mille, they definitely had the best models to meet and greet. Mainly, the buzz was all about the new watch models on display, and the watches this year show the range of talents at Audemars Piguet from the entry level, right through to the very meaning of haute horologie.

I was fortunate to talk to both Giulio Papi and Octavio Garcia about the watches this year and what excites them about the collection. Also around, and not just as scenery, was Gerald Genta. Most of us can put 2 and 2 together and realize that the Royal Oak is 40 in a couple of years …

Hope you enjoy the read.

Cheers

g This was definitely an honour on my part as Giulio (and the initial partner Dominic Renaud) has been the guiding light behind a number of the technical developments in watches over the past two decades. He was, and is, a prodigious talent, a very person...

(Here talking with Gerald Genta – on the left of the photo) I had chatted with Octavio before at the Alinghi launch event back in March 2007. Always an honour and a pleasure to talk with Octavio. He is the man behind the redesigning of Royal Oak line and ...

"It was with some reluctance that I took it off and handed it back; I even offered to pay for it there and then but AP were not selling at the SIHH!" Smitten? I think so ;-) . . . warmest regards, Art...

Looks like my on-again off-again love affair with AP ROs is now on-again. The EoT in pink-gold is truly remarkably elegantly wonderfully beautiful. One of the best EoTs I have come across; as mesmerizing as VH's Classic Janvier is, the Royal Oak Equation ...

...on the Scuba, Andrew! It looks like a great watch. I really like that watch, the steel RO Skeleton, and the 57th St. ROO. AP had some great offerings at SIHH this year. Thanks for the reporting, Andrew! Cheers, Daos

Thanks

The standout for me was the AP RO EOT and the RO skeleton. Your pics are the first ones that really capture the antracite grayish color of the skeletonized movement on the 15305. I can't wait to see it in person. Regards, ED-209

also my favorites

This pair is absolutely wonderful, but I live nowhere near an AP AD, so will just have to enjoy your great pictures. (the skeleton's bezel though looks to be pre-scratched! I guess to save the anxiety of that first mishap) S

Nice write-up, thanks !
