Hi

I have spent plenty of time lurking on this forum, admiring some beautiful pieces and reading some great posts and discussions.

Today, having a little time on my hands, I decided to join the forum and post for the first time.

My watch journey began several years ago. I have been through my share of watches: Panerai, Rolex, IWC, Richard Mille, Lange & Sohne but for the last year I have become more and more obsessed with Patek Philippe.

It all started with seeing wrist shots of the 5164A and so the search began. First to clear out one to make way for the 5164A...and take a massive hit in the process, but my mind was made up and I just had to have it. And so the search began and after a few months of trying I rang an AD on the off chance and much to my delight they had one in stock. The Aquanaut Travel Time became my favourite piece I had and very rarely leaves my wrist. Great looking and a great and useful complication. What more could you ask for?!

And so it began...the word "complication"....what could I get next?

I had been seeing many posts and photos of the 5235G. The fact that it is so different from any other Patek, a Regulator and has in my opinion a stunning dial made me think about it more and more.

A trip to London last weekend and I had a couple of hours spare to walk around and browse some watch shops... with window shopping the intention. After visiting one who I already knew, I asked the question, "Do you have anything special for me?"....The next thing I knew I had the illusive and amazing 5235G in front of me. That was it, what was intended as a spot of window shopping became a spot of watch purchasing and the 5235G was added to my collection and the 2nd Patek in my collection.

The 5164A and 5235G are two very different pieces, but having bought and sold most my watches, I now have two in my collection that I can never imagine selling on. I love them and love wearing them.

What are all your thoughts on these two pieces?

Regards
Jav

Patek has a certain charm, no matter which model you pick...something not many watches hold. Both these are great pieces, of course I'm impartial to the 5164A as I happen to also own one, and find that to be one of the most comfortable and versatile watch...

Thanks..

I bought the 5235 as pre-owned unworn. I wasn't on a list with an AD so am really happy that I was able to find it in the first place.

Welcome to Purists and congrats on two very nice watches

They both look great, I am partial to the regulator myself, wish they would consider a rose gold model. Look forward to seeing more pictures. Stewart

The 5711 is a beautiful watch!! Its simplicity is its beauty!! In fact I was giving consideration to one before pulling the trigger on the 5235. With my 5235, it was a simple case of being in the right place at the right time. I didnt buy it through an AD...
