I think the croc was too formal for what is essential a great tool watch. Especially with the 351, with its brushed titanium case, the assolutamente strap brings out the chocolate of the dial a little better than the darker croc. Also, the ass strap is softer (feels like suede) and more comfortable
The dials are a base layer of brass. The top dial is oxidized copper. There is a great video on "how it is made" showing in depth the steps of making a Panerai. It is even better than the video that Panerai has on its website. Happy Easter, troy
According to the Watchtime article on the PAM 372, this model has gold plated hands. I assume my PAM 351 has the same. It didn't say what the base material was however. thanks, troy
Are the gold Panerai hands gold coated brass or steel or are they solid gold? I know the dials are brass, but there is a galvanic coating grown on the dial to give it a black or brown color. Is this just paint or is it another material? thanks, troy
Thanks Anthony. I purchased it in Dallas this weekend. I was looking at getting an Explorer 2 and was just browsing when I walked into the Panerai boutique. Out of all the watches, this one caught my eye. I had Olga pull it out of the case and I couldn't get over the subtle beauty of the brown dial
