Limited edition

Is this a limited edition watch for the 40th anniversary? If so, how many will be made?
Any thoughts on AP using the older 2120 movement which to my knowledge is "inferior" to the 3120. If they're using the 2120, I can only surmise that this is only a limited edition.

Well said..

If I could pinpoint my biggest criticism of AP it would be the endless variations of the same pieces.

Wow! - that AP diver is a real stunner..
By: Evosam : January 16th, 2012-10:25
.... also probably due to Allen's amazing picture but that FC diver really speaks to me. Love to see more complete set of shots, but TOH, I was never a big fan of the diver vs the chrono, but this really does change my mind. Looking forward to more detail...
Forged Carbon?
By: aikiman44 : January 16th, 2012-13:36
I love that, it's probably fantastic in person.
First impressions..
By: bulliondesk : January 16th, 2012-14:07
Reminds me of the IWC Aquatimer at first glance. I like the forged carbon addition with the ceramic bezel and steel plots. Will have to see it in person but from the pictures I think I like the looks of this better than the original Diver. It is clearly a...
I like the Offshore Diver, but...
By: patrick_y : January 16th, 2012-21:18
I like the Offshore Diver, I feel that it has so much more character than the Patek Philippe Aquanaut (which is a very comfortable thinner watch). But this particular model reminds me of the IWC Aquatimer...
Good to know...
By: patrick_y : January 16th, 2012-22:05
That is good news. Now I'm excited to see it in person!
thanks!
By: Mystiqz : January 16th, 2012-05:56
thanks for the wonderful photos
Thanks, Allen!

The RO skeleton tourbillon looks fantastic. I'll also be curious to see the new diver. Great pictures! Cheers, Daos
First thoughts
By: Artoxares : January 16th, 2012-08:21
I need to see it in flesh, but the RO Skeleton Tourbillon is one of the best looking watches that I have ever seen! A true masterpiece (based on one single pic, I know)! Guess it will be out of my range, but who knows, I might win at the lottery one of th...
My thoughts on the diver also!

Although initially my heart sank as I already have the ss and my firat reaction was that I prefer the new one
pandering to the chinese
By: edwardwchang : January 16th, 2012-09:00
I am really annoyed by all the pandering to the chinese swiss watch companies are doing these days. It just reeks of a mad cash grab. We are going to see dragon or panda watches from every brand and its just ridiculous, no matter how well executed the act...

Agreed
By: Albert.J : January 16th, 2012-11:14
have seen too many watches with dragons and pandas on the dial.
I am putting an alternate view
By: dreamer8 : January 16th, 2012-15:23
Nothing wrong with watch companies ( and other industries ) knowing their market. If there is a market for dragon ( very powerful symbol in chinese culture and this the year of the Dragon ) tourbys it makes sense to supply. There are many other toubys by ...

Fantastic for many reasons !
By: cisco : January 17th, 2012-04:18
-First taking back, the AP at 6, the blue dial, the thin indexes and tapestry like the original is the best hommage to Mr Genta. I was not sure all the details will be taken, that is GREAT , the watch and the designer deserve it! -Not making other dials c...
THANK YOU for the coverage and the live photos..
By: ocwatching : January 17th, 2012-18:43
wow...the re-issue is a beauty..wow and the 41mm is pretty sweet as well..guess the price differential will make me go with the 41.. anyhow word on the 15300?
That is stunning.
By: JerryW : January 16th, 2012-20:11
I wonder if the AP service center can change the dial on my 15202? This message has been edited by JerryW on 2012-01-16 20:15:29
bigger ROC ?
By: roger1 : January 16th, 2012-21:53
is the case of the ROCs the same as the current ROC or slightly larger ?
Oh no..
By: willski : January 17th, 2012-01:33
The current RO case just fits my wrist so 41mm would be a no-go for me. Better start selling stuff to find a panda ROC now...
Can't wait to see these in the flesh
By: galarza2073 : January 17th, 2012-13:37
The changes are subtle but very engaging to the eye. I like the 12 o'clock marker "a la Jumbo" versus the current up-side down triangle. Also, notice the small arabic numerals above the minute markers are now gone. Plus, it seems like the minute markers g...
Thanks for the shots!

Love the strap. Seems to be a perfect size. Not overly wide and huge like the rubber strap on the new Offshore Chronographs. Can't wait to try this on!
Love it.
By: VMM : January 17th, 2012-07:32
I'll try it on in two days. Let's wait for my final veredict I like what I see in your pictures. Thanks. Vte

I always thought last years RO Diver had a bit too much stainless steel showing. This is just gorgeous and even more sporty with the color combo (most of us think IWC when we see this). One alternative would be to put this black ceramic bezel on the ss RO...
My AP fav this year, Nicolas!
By: Haagen : January 21st, 2012-03:06
there was very little talk about this one, but I understand from both Merk and Garcia that we'll see a lot more from the Jules Audemars and Millenary collections throughout 2012. Guess 2012 is not just about RO's.
I was not the author of these pictures, my friend.
By: amanico : January 21st, 2012-03:18
But I brievly saw this watch in Geneva, and yes, I must admit that there is something whiich caught my interest. Will have to spend more time studying it. Was cool to meet you! Best, Nicolas
Very Good !

Here's a picture: The non-tourbillon automatic version of the 15202 is also going to be limited to 40 pieces and is in fulll platinum as well. Perhaps you'll like this one? This message has been edited by Allen on 2012-01-16 21:53:18...
Thanks Allen for the ultra clear explanation!
By: BluNotte : January 17th, 2012-08:52
I am still drawn more towards the Tourbillon, as i dont do automatics. Wonder if it shall be within my reach? ANy indication of what the MSRP shall be? Just dreaming! Stephen
I just found out
By: Allen : January 17th, 2012-22:45
The Tourbillon version is going to cost more than 300,000 Swiss francs.
Ouch!
By: BluNotte : January 26th, 2012-17:53
But for the price of Platinum and the works that goes into it, i guess it could very well be worth it. But others dont do the same, wonder why AP has to ask so much? Is it really that good and worth it? Stephen
Thanks

37mm RO..? I assume the 15300 is discontinued to be replaced with the new 37 and 41mm versions, and the 15202 stays at 39mm with the same movement..? If that is the case what about the 15305..? Is that to be stopped too..? I hope so..! Great report and th...

By: Andy : January 19th, 2012-09:29
my dealer is over there today and has text me to say he is led to believe by AP that the 15300 and 15305 are being discontinued with the new 41mm (& 37mm..?) size replacing it. If that is the case then there are very few 15305 skeletons like mine abou...
